Cloutier Wins 400 IM Title At NEAC Meet

Wells College women's swimming sophomore Courtney Cloutier won the finals of the 400-yard individual medley to highlight the second day of action at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships.

It is the second-straight year that Cloutier has won the 400 IM at the conference meet. Her time was 5:15.16.

Cloutier was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team for Wells, which placed fourth in the event finals with a time of 2:04.02. The quartet consisted of Shannon Simmons, Gina Ross-Detro, Kaitlyn Schwend, and Cloutier, and the time was the second-fastest in program history. The B relay team for Wells took 10th place in the event.

Schwend took third in the finals of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.51. On Saturday morning, Schwend topped the prelims with a season-best time of 1:05.98.

Ross-Detro placed fourth in the A final of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.21, the fourth-best time in Wells history.

Simmons also hit the record board with a fourth-place finish in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.86, the ninth-best time ever at Wells.

Wells closed the Saturday night session with a fifth-place finish in the finals of the 800-yard freestyle relay by the group of Anna Bozeat, Chasity Daniels, Asa Cade, and Emily Cooper.

In individual competition, Cooper, Cade, and Daniels were ninth, 10th, and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle. Bozeat was 11th in the 100-yard backstroke and Destiny Rivera was 12th.

Wells stands in fourth place in the team standings with 202 points.
