Women's Swimming Shows Well In Home-Opener

The Wells College women's swimming team competed in its first dual meet of the season, and hosted Oswego State on Saturday, Oct. 28. The visiting Lakers won the dual meet by a 65-25 score.

Emily Cooper took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 15 minutes, 15 seconds.

Amy Storti was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:41.55 and second in the 500 free in 7:04.08.

Shannon Simmons was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.86 and second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:05.27.

Tiffany Core took second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:43.72.

Kaitlyn Schwend swam 29.09 seconds to take second place in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:10.27 for a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.

In the opening week of the year, Wells competed in an all-relay meet hosted by Cortland.

Wells continues dual-meet action next weekend, with a Saturday, Nov. 4 meet at Utica College beginning at 1 p.m.
