Women's Swimming Earns Win Over Pitt-Bradford

The Wells College women's swimming team claimed an 88-59 victory over Pitt-Bradford and lost by a 107-62 score to Penn State Behrend in a tri-meet Saturday, Jan. 20 hosted by Pitt-Bradford. Express swimmers and relays earned second-place finishes in six different events during the meet.

Wells started the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with Shannon Simmons, Courtney Cloutier, Kaitlyn Schwend, and Anna Bozeat timing in at 4:56.75.

Cloutier went on to finish second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.72) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.72). It was the first competitive meet of the season for Cloutier, who was studying internationally during the first semester.

Emily Cooper was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 14:48.20 and was third in the 500 free in 7:10.97. In that same 500 free, Wells teammate Amy Storti edged Cooper for second place with a time of 7:10.32.

Bozeat was third in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:50.66, just ahead of Simmons in fourth in 2:52.66.

Wells concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay by Simmons, Asa Cade, Paetyn Burish, and Jeanna Swift.

Wells will be in action Wednesday at home at 6 p.m. against SUNY Delhi. It will be the team's Senior Meet and prior to competition the Express will honor senior Kaitlyn Schwend.
