Women's Swim Stands Third After Day One At NEACs

The Wells College women's swimming team began the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimming Championships with opening-day competition Friday, Feb. 16 at SUNY Cobleskill. Wells stands in third place after the first day of the three-day championship meet.

Wells placed third in the A Final of the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.79, and the B relay took eighth overall with a time of 2:07.10 in the finals.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Kaitlyn Schwend was fourth in the event final with a time of 5:54.78. She entered the finals seeded fifth after her preliminary time, but moved up one place on the podium. Anna Bozeat was sixth overall in 6:28.11. In the B Final, Amy Storti was ninth overall and Emily Cooper was 12th.

Courtney Cloutier placed second in the event finals of the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:27.21. Cloutier also swam the second-fastest prelim time in the 200-yard IM. Jeanna Swift competed in the B Final of the 200 IM and was 11th overall in 3:33.37.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Shannon Simmons and Caitlin Lawrence swam in the event's B Final. Lawrence was seventh overall in 29.83 seconds and Simmons was eighth with a time of 29.96 seconds.

Wells was fourth in the A Finals of the 400-yard medley relay after placing fourth in the event preliminaries. The Express swam 5:49.16 in the event finals on Friday night.
