Three Event Wins For Women's Swimming

The Wells College women's swimming team hosted Utica College on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Schwartz Athletic Center aquatics facility and Utica won the dual meet by a score of 71-23.

Wells swimmers won three individual events as Callia Ortega won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle and Courtney Cloutier took the 400-yard individual medley.

Ortega timed in 28.62 seconds in the 50 free and won the 100 free in 1:02.70.

Cloutier swam a strong 5:19.63 in the 400 IM which was just four seconds off of her time in the event at last year's North Eastern Athletic Conference championship meet. She was second by five-hundredths in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.34.

The Wells group of Shannon Simmons, Bella George, Cloutier, and Ortega took second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:16.14.

Amy Storti was third in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.

Bella George took third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Wells capped the meet with a time of 2:15.57 in the 200-yard freestyle relay by Storti, Jess Boeheim, Emily Cooper, and Bella George.

The Express returns to competition Saturday, Nov. 10 at Gallaudet University.
