Wells Ready To Take On NEAC Swimming Championships

The Wells College swimming teams are set to hit the starting blocks for the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship meet this weekend at Cazenovia College. Three days of competition begin Friday, Feb. 15 and continue through Sunday, Feb. 17.

The Wells College women's swim team finished third at last year's championship meet among five teams and the men's swim team finished second of four teams.

The action will begin with each day's event preliminary round sessions beginning at 10 a.m. Friday's and Saturday's event championship sessions will begin at 6 p.m., while Sunday's event championship session begins at 4:45 p.m.

The Wells College women's team has three swimmers competing this weekend who earned a total of nine all-conference honors last year across three individual events and three relays.

The Wells College men's team returns three all-conference performers from last year's meet that accrued eight all-conference relay finishes and five more in individual events.

Over the nine-year history of the NEAC championship meet, the Wells men's swimming team has been first or second six times. Last year's second-place finish for Wells is the third time in program history that the Express has claimed runner-up status. Wells has also won three team titles at the NEACs.
