Women’s Swimming Team Competes in Roberts Wesleyan Invitational
The Wells College women's swimming team traveled to Rochester in a tri-meet between non-conference opponents Utica College and host Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday, Nov. 16.
While the Wells women swimmers were bested by Utica by 166-82, the Express dropped a heartbreaker to the Redhawks by seven points at 120-113.
The Express finished with a pair of first-place finishes and two runners-up on the afternoon. Leading the way for Wells was Saoirse Murphy-Collins, who took both of Wells' first-place finishes, one second place finish as an individual and another second as part of Wells' 200-yard medley relay team. All of her individual wins came in freestyle competition.
Murphy-Collins won a photo finish in the 200-yard freestyle and also took the 500-yard freestyle. Her individual second-place finish came in the 50-yard freestyle, while she shared a runner-up relay finish with teammates Nicole D'Aurizio, Hailey Onofre and current North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, Shannon Simmons.
The women's swimming team next gets a rematch with Roberts Wesleyan when they travel to SUNY Cobleskill for a tr-meet on Saturday, Nov. 23.
