Women’s Swimming Team Records Five Runner-up Times in Cobleskill Tri-Meet

The Wells College women's swimming team came close to taking a pair of wins in a tri-meet this afternoon at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The Express were 30 points shy of host Cobleskill and 31 points behind Roberts Wesleyan College. Both Cobleskill and Roberts Wesleyan scored 142 against Wells compared to 112 and 111, respectively.

Current North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week Saoirse Murphy-Collins led the way for Wells with two of its four individual runner-up finishes. Murphy-Collins finished second in a pair of freestyle races at distances of 50 and 100 yards with times of 28.59 and 1:02.98, respectively.

Hailey Onofre also had a runner-up finish for Wells but in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.83), while teammate Nicole D'Aurizio finished second with a 1:19.76 time in the 100-yard IM.

In addition to the four individual runner-up finishes, the Wells women's swimming team also recorded a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The women's swimming team will resume collegiate competition on Jan. 11 when the team hosts Buffalo State College.
