Women’s Swim Team Tops the Field after First Day of NEAC Championships

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming team leads the 2020 NEAC Swimming and Diving Championships after the first day, Feb. 14, hosted by SUNY Cobleskill.

The Express accumulated 157 points and are 14 points ahead of SUNY Cobleskill, while Cedar Crest College is in third, 34 points off the Express. Cazenovia (94 points) and Gallaudet (60) conclude the five-team field.

The lone win for the Express on the day came in the 500-yard freestyle from Saoirse Murphy-Collins. The freshman was 15 seconds clear of the field with her 5:48.73 time. Wells showed their depth during the rest of the day in building their lead. The Express recorded six top-five finishes and five more top-eight finishes over the 12 events on the day.

The second day of competition gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 with preliminaries of the 200-yard medley relay. Finals will start at 6 p.m.
