Women’s Swimming Team Drops to Cazenovia in Opener

The Wells College women's swimming team fell to Cazenovia College by a 133-109 score on Feb. 20, 2021 at the Cazenovia College Natatorium.

The Express won six of the 14 events that Wells swimmers participated in. Overall, a half-dozen swimmers registered either a first-place individual finish or were part of a winning relay team.

Feleesha Jones led the team with three wins with a pair of individual breaststroke wins and one win as part of a relay team. Jones took the 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.96) and the 50-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 39.87.

Janelle Smalls, Alexis Huff and Hailey Onofre joined Jones in the 200-yard medley relay race and produced a winning time of 2:43.07.

Saoirse Murphy-Collins also registered a pair of individual wins with both victories coming in freestyle competition. Murphy-Collins took the 50-yard free with a 30.19 time and the 500-yard free with a time of 6:51.51.

Rounding out the individual winners for Wells was Rowan Mayette. The freshman recorded her first collegiate win with a 32.59 time in the 50-yard butterfly.

The women's team is back in action next Saturday, Feb. 27, with the team's first home meet of the season against SUNY Delhi.
