GUNDERSON NAMED NEW DIRECTOR OF SCHWARTZ ATHLETIC CENTER AND HEAD WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH

Aurora, NY – Wells College is pleased to announce Rachel Gunderson has been hired as the new Director of Schwartz Athletic Center and Head Women's Tennis Coach. Gunderson spent last season as the assistant women's tennis coach at Ithaca College helping lead the Bombers to the Empire 8 Conference Championship and their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

A native of Bemus Point, NY, Gunderson played four years of collegiate tennis at Ithaca where she earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 2008 before going on to earn her master's in health education from Ithaca this past June. Gunderson helped lead the Bombers to four-straight Empire 8 conference championships (2004-2008) including an NCAA tournament berth in 2007. Gunderson would finish 3rd all-time in school history in singles wins and 7th all-time in school history in career wins, while also being named 2007 Women's Tennis League Sportswomen of the Year and 2007 Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship Tournament MVP.
