WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS NO. 3 SEED

Aurora, N.Y.- The Wells College women's tennis team has secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship tournament to be held at Birchwood Tennis Club on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 in Clarks Summit, Pa. The Express will take on No. 2 seed Keuka College starting on Thursday at 9:10 a.m.

The Express finished the 2010 regular season at an overall record of 5-4, while posting a 5-2 record in NEAC play. Keuka College took the only meeting between the two teams defeating Wells 5-4 back on April 5th in Aurora, N.Y. Penn. St. Berks earned the overall top seed with a record of 6-1, while SUNY Cobleskill rounds out the tournament pool with the No. 4 overall seed at 4-3.

The NEAC will also host individual championships in all six singles flights and all three doubles flights. The top four players at each singles position qualify for the individual tournament. The Express qualified at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles, while qualifying in all three double flights.

Ana Lucia Riley will represent the Express at No. 4 singles, Aya Shiraishi at No. 5, and Caitlyn Copfer at No. 6.

In doubles action the duo of Cat Abrego and Sarah Hansen will represent the Express at No. 1 doubles, Paula Goodnough and Riley at No. 2, and twin sisters Mindy and Lorina Lamier at No. 3.
