WELLS WOMEN’S TENNIS ROUTS SCREAMING EAGLES

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference with a dominating 9-0 victory over the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. The Express swept the doubles round and would lose just one game in singles action to secure the conference victory. The loss drops the Screaming Eagles to 1-3 (0-1 NEAC), while the Express improve to 2-5 overall.
 
Sarah Hansen (Cortland Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) handled No. 1 singles in impressive fashion, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Caitlyn Copfer (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) took game one of her No. 2 singles match 6-4, lost her second game 4-6, but bounced back in the third game with a 6-1 win. Lorina LaMier (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) won at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-0, while Mindy LaMier (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) won convincingly at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Kelly Pietruch (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro ) continued the Express winning ways, taking home the win at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Brittany Vanno (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) rounded out the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Express return to action tomorrow against NEAC foe Penn. St. Abington with the match set to begin at 11 a.m. in Aurora, N.Y.
