NEAC INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP

(Clarks Summit, Pa.)─ Qualifying five singles players and two doubles teams the Wells college women's tennis team earned three individual victories at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Individual Championship held at the Birchwood Tennis Center in Clarks Summit, Pa. on Sunday afternoon.
 
Sarah Hansen, Caitlyn Copfer, Lorina Lamier, Mindy Lamier, Kelly Pietruch and Brittany Vanno all qualified for the singles semi-final round. Mindy Lamier earned the lone victory at No. 4 singles defeating Brin Benjamin in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 to move on the championship round where she would fall to Penn. St. Abington's Rebekah Dubin 6-1, 6-2.
 
Brittany Vanno advanced to the championship round at No. 6 singles, defeating Lauren Hetzel of Penn. St. Abington in three sets (6-3, 0-6, 6-3). However, Kara Dewitt of Keuka took the overall championship at No. 6 singles, defeating Vanno 6-1, 6-3.
 
Despite losing in the semi-final round 6-3, 6-3 to Stephanie Mockus of Penn. St. Abington, Lorina Lamier bounced back in the consolation match to defeat Sarah Loucks of Wilson (6-3, 6-0) at No. 3 singles.
 
In doubles action, No. 1 team Caitlyn Copfer and Sarah Hansen and No. 3 team of Brittany Vanno and Kelly Pietruch both fell in their semi-final and consolation round matches.
