Women's Tennis Drops 8-1 Decision To Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. - Senior Caitlyn Copfer (Clinton, N.Y.) posted a victory in No. 2 singles action, but the Wells College women's tennis team fell to the Saxons of Alfred University by a collective 8-1 margin Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 0-1 on the season while the Saxons even their overall record at 1-1.

Today's contest was the first career game for Head Coach Dan Sullivan, who took over the program this past summer.

In No. 2 singles action, Copfer dropped the first match to Brennan Ferguson 4-6, but rebounded in the second match, 6-4, to force the tiebreaker. Copfer came away with the 13-11 victory in the third and final match.

In No. 2 doubles, the tandem of seniors Kelly Pietruch (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Emma Martin (Concord, N.H.) was narrowly defeated, 8-6, by Cady Spencer and Emily Eisenberg. Freshmen Britney DeSouza (Bronx, N.Y.) and Kailin Kucewicz (West Valley, N.Y.) also saw their first collegiate action in today's contest.
