Women's Tennis Defeated By Oswego State, 8-1

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Wells College women's tennis team was able to secure a victory in their top doubles match, but the Lakers of Oswego State College were able to walk away with an 8-1 victory Tuesday afternoon at the Romney Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Express fall to 0-2 on the young season while the Lakers improve to 1-2 on the year.

The tandem of seniors Brittany Vanno (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Alyssa Acquaviva (New Hartford, N.Y.) were able to set down their opponent by an 8-2 margin at No. 1 doubles for Wells' lone victory on the day. Acquaviva forced a third set against her No. 2 singles opponent, Lauren Stall, but was edged 6-4 in the third stanza. Sophomore Brooke Benedetto (Williamstown, N.Y.) also battled to a third set but was defeated (6-3, 1-6, 6-2) at No. 3 singles.
