AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth at the Wells College Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Wells moves to 2-6 overall on the year and to 1-0 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Saint Elizabeth (0-1, 0-1 NEAC) dropped their first match of the year.

Wells now boasts 17 victories in their last 20 North Eastern Athletic Conference tennis matches dating back to a 5-4 victory over Penn St.-Harrisburg on Mar. 31, 2012. The Express also remain perfect versus the Eagles, securing their sixth-straight win against Saint Elizabeth.

The Express posted three doubles victories to open the afternoon as senior Taryn Heath (Truxton, N.Y.) partnered with junior Brooke Benedetto (Williamstown, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles to post an 8-1 win. The tandem of freshman Danielle Bautista (Moorpark, Calif.) and sophomore Nicole Sanborn (Onondaga, N.Y.) also registered an 8-1 score to win at No. 2 doubles. The Express earned points via a retirement at No. 5 singles and a forfeit at No. 6 singles to conclude the afternoon.

Head Coach Dan Sullivan moved to third place all-time in Wells history for career coaching victories, passing Andrew Gross with his 16th overall win since a 6-3 decision over Daemen on Sept. 16, 2012. He trails only Peter Balbert and Jeri Whiting in school history – Balbert earned 71 wins in 12-plus years of coaching while Whiting picked up 25 wins from 1996 to 2002.

Wells begins a four-match road trip this Saturday, Apr. 4 as the Express face-off against the reigning NEAC Champions from Keuka College at 1 p.m.
