Women's Tennis Downed By Penn St.-Abington

ELKINS PARK, Pa. – Senior Brooke Benedetto (Williamstown, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's tennis team picked up a win at No. 1 singles as her team fell by an 8-1 margin to Penn St.-Abington on Saturday. Wells drops to 1-4 overall on the season while the Nittany Lions move to 2-3 on the year. 

Wells, who entered the match on Saturday as winners of 21 of its last 26 regular season matches, has fallen to the Nittany Lions for the fourth time during that stretch of six losses. On Saturday, the Express forfeited the No. 3 flight in doubles and singles play, starting the match in a 2-0 hole. 

Benedetto secured the 6-4, 6-2 victory, earning her 22nd career singles win for the Express to create a three-way tie for eighth place in team history. At No. 1 singles this year, Benedetto moves to 4-1 overall which stands as her team's best record at any level of play. 

Wells will take on the Lions from Bryn Athyn College on Sunday, Apr. 3 at high noon.
