Women's Tennis Players To Compete For NEAC Honors

The Wells College women's tennis team will be represented in singles and doubles individual competition at the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The tournament brackets of six singles flights and three doubles flights will include four representatives in each bracket. Two semifinal matches will be played in each bracket, followed by a championship match and consolation match.  

The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30 at the Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit, Pa.

Saturday's event schedule will include the doubles championships beginning at 2 p.m. Wells is represented in the third doubles flight, where Aala Al-Hashimi and Nao Shimada are the tournament's third seed. They will face second-seeded Lucrezia Pulcini and Brittney Mecca of Penn State Berks in the semifinals.

The singles championships will be played Sunday, April 30 and four Wells players have qualified for those competitions. Singles semifinal matches will begin Sunday at 10 a.m.

Nicole Sanborn is the fourth seed at second singles. Yui Omachida is the third seed in the fourth singles bracket, Aala Al-Hashimi is seeded fourth at fifth singles and Nao Shimada is the number-four seed in the sixth singles bracket.
