Brazier Takes NEAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Sophomore Olyvia Brazier (Stony Brook, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's volleyball team has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Brazier and the Express concluded the previous weekend of play with a 3-0 record against NEAC opponents.

On the weekend, Brazier registered 48 digs and averaged 4.36 digs per set across 11 sets for the Express. She opened play with 16 digs against Penn St.-Berks on Friday before combining for 32 digs in her next two matches. Versus the host Chargers of Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, Brazier picked up 25 digs defensively and fell a single dig shy of tying the single-match program record.

Her team's victory over Lancaster Bible was also historic as it marked the first-ever conference loss in nine total matches for the host Chargers in their team's history. Exiting play this weekend, the sophomore defensive specialist now has the second-most digs in the conference with 180 and has chipped in with 56 kills and 19 service aces in 46 sets played for Wells.

For her career, Brazier leads all players in program history with 3.16 digs per set and has 519 across her career to rank second all-time, trailing current teammate Nicole Loeven (Pawling, N.Y.) who boasts 843 in her four-year career. Her 66 career service aces rank her fifth and her 91 career kills rank within the top-10 in team history.

Wells returns to action this Wednesday, Sept. 23 as they welcome SUNY Delhi to Aurora for a 7 p.m. match in the Farenthold Athletic Wing.
