Women's Volleyball Defeats Bryn Athyn, Penn St.-Abington

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's volleyball team posted a straight-set victory against Bryn Athyn College before battling Penn St.-Abington to a 3-1 win on Saturday at Cazenovia College. The Express improve to 16-8 overall on the year and to 10-1 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Wells posted a 3-0 over the Lions via scores of 26-24, 25-23 and 25-23. The Express later set back the Nittany Lions in four sets, 25-12, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-14.

Against Bryn Athyn, junior Meredith Kadjeski (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and senior Vashti Nettles (Long Beach, Calif.) each posted 10 kills to lead the team offensively. Sophomore Eliza Schwab (Hartland, N.Y.) set up 24 of her team's 32 kills while classmate Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo (Hilo, Hawaii) racked up 10 digs defensively for the Express. Junior Nadine Pershyn (Buffalo, N.Y.) accounted for four of her team's 11 service aces.

Versus Penn St.-Abington, Nettles secured 17 kills while Kadjeski and Leite-Ah Yo had kill totals of 12 and 10, respectively. Schwab had 34 assists against the Nittany Lions while Leite-Ah Yo led the team with 15 digs defensively. Schwab and Pershyn each posted 13 digs defensively.

Wells concludes conference play on Sunday, Oct. 25 as they play the Eagles from the College of Saint Elizabeth in a 2 p.m. match at Cazenovia. A victory on Sunday will grant Wells its' 11th league win of the year, the most-ever in team history.
