Recently, the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced the 2017 Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll. Wells was picked third by NEAC coaches, following a strong 2016 season. Wells finished with a 19-11 overall record last year, the second-best record in program history in the NCAA-era. The Express advanced to the semifinals of the NEAC playoffs following a quarterfinal victory over Penn State-Berks, which marked the first postseason win in the modern era.

Returning all-conference selections, senior Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo and sophomore Jackie Allen, lead an experienced starting lineup and several newcomers are poised to make an impact for Wells. Head coach Mark Lucas will be assisted by Samantha Wood, Jim Nichols, and Michelle Fuller.
