Second-Day Sweep For Women's Volleyball At Scranton

The Wells College women's volleyball team had a strong finish to the opening weekend of the season with a pair of victories at the Scranton Invitational. Wells defeated College of St. Elizabeth in three sets and then defeated Shenandoah in four sets. Wells' record stands at 3-1 on the year. Olyvia Brazier was named to the all-tournament team for the Express.

Wells is back in action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9 at the University of Rochester Invitational.

Wells 3, St. Elizabeth 0

The Express won by set scores of 27-25, 25-12, 25-17. The opening set was close throughout, and Wells trailed 22-21 before claiming six of the final nine points of the match. The Express cruised through the second and third sets in a non-league matchup against a fellow NEAC member. Wells hit .308 in the second set and .500 in the third set with 17 kills.

Amanda Springer had 13 kills and just one error in 24 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage in the match. Jackie Allen had nine kills. Eliza Schwab had 30 assists. Allen served three aces and added 12 digs. Olyvia Brazier led the Express with 16 digs. 

Wells 3, Shenandoah 1

Wells won by set scores of 25-11, 26-28, 25-21, 25-22. The Express hit .190 in the match and three players reached double-figures in kills with 14 from Rachel Anderson, 13 from Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo, and 11 from Jackie Allen. Eliza Schwab had 41 assists. Wells served 10 aces, with three each from Olyvia Brazier and Jackie Allen. Brazier had 19 digs and Leite-Ah Yo had 17 digs. Amanda Springer had two solo blocks and four block assists.
