Brazier Reaches Digs Milestone For Women's Volleyball

The Wells College women's volleyball team opened its weekend of play at the University of Rochester Invitational with a five-set loss to Pitt-Bradford and a three-set defeat to Houghton College. The Express stands at 3-3 overall this season. Wells will return to action Saturday at Rochester against Frostburg State and Utica.

Pitt-Bradford 3, Wells 2

Pitt-Bradford edged the first two sets by scores of 26-24 and 27-25 but Wells took the next two sets convincingly by 25-12 and 25-14 scored. Bradford took the decisive set 15-12. Wells out-hit Bradford with a .139 hitting percentage whereas the Panthers hit -.006 for the match.

Jackie Allen had 12 kills and a .132 percentage while Rachel Anderson had 11 kills and hit .250. Eliza Schwab had 34 assists. Olyvia Brazier had a team-high 25 digs and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 17 digs and five service aces. Brazier surpassed 1,000 digs for her career in the match, the third player in program history to hit that milestone.

Amanda Springer had seven kills, two solo blocks and five block assists.

Houghton 3, Wells 0

After the five-set match, Wells was right back on court for the second match of the day, which Houghton won by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-14. Houghton is 5-1 on the season.

Rachel Anderson led the Express with 12 kills and she hit .429. She added two solo blocks and one block assist. Olyvia Brazier and Amanda Springer each served an ace. Eliza Schwab had 22 assists. Brazier and Jackie Allen each had 10 digs.
