Women's Volleyball Takes On Four North Country Opponents

The Wells College women's volleyball team won once in a series of four matches over the weekend in Canton, N.Y. On Friday, Sept. 29, Wells lost in four sets in matches against SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence. On Saturday, Sept. 30 in matches hosted by SUNY Canton, Wells defeated Plattsburgh 3-1, and lost in four sets to Potsdam. Wells is 11-8 overall and returns to action Thursday, Oct. 5 at Elmira College.

SUNY Canton 3, Wells 1

The Kangaroos won 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20 over the Expres. Rachel Anderson had 15 kills, Jackie Allen had 11 and Amanda Springer had 10. Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 15 digs, and Jackie Allen had 10 digs. Allen served four aces and Springer served three. Springer had four solo blocks and two block assists. Eliza Schwab had 31 assists.

St. Lawrence 3, Wells 1

Set scores were 25-13, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17. The Saints hit .258 in the match with 50 kills and 19 errors. Jackie Allen had 11 kills, 13 digs, one solo block, one service ace and two assists. Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 16 digs and three service aces. Eliza Schwab had 26 assists.

Wells 3, Plattsburgh 1

The Express won by set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18. Wells hit .215 for the match and three players reached double-figures in kills including 19 by Jackie Allen and 18 from Rachel Anderson. Anderson hit .457 in the match with just two errors along with those 18 kills. Amanda Springer had 11 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Eliza Schwab had 21 assists and Jordan Stoops had 12 assists.

Allen had a career-best 31 digs and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 26 digs. Annabelle Lee had 12 digs and Jordan Stoops and Eliza Schwab had 11 digs each. Leite-Ah Yo served four aces, and Amanda Springer and Jordan Stoops each served two aces. Schwab, Springer, and Lakshmi Martin each had one solo block.

Potsdam 3, Wells 1

Set scores were 25-21, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21 in favor of the Bears. Rachel Anderson led Wells with 15 kills and Jackie Allen had 14 kills. Eliza Schwab had 36 assists and served five aces. Cheyenne Nowalk and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo each had two aces. Lakshmi Martin had one solo block.

Leite-Ah Yo had 27 digs, and three other players had double-digit digs as Allen and Annabelle Lee picked up 13, and Schwab had 12.
