Two Convincing Wins For Wells Women's Volleyball

The Wells College women's volleyball team got back into the win column with a pair of victories at home Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. The Express started the day with a three-set win over Penn College, and closed the afternoon with a four-set win over Medaille College.

In the other match of the day, Medaille defeated Penn College in straight sets. Following the three matches, Wells has an overall record of 13-9 with a perfect 5-0 record in NEAC play. Penn College is 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the NEAC. Medaille is 3-17.

Wells is back in conference play next weekend at Lancaster Bible with another match against Penn State Berks.

Wells 3, Penn College 0

Set scores were 25-16, 25-10, 25-21. Wells totaled 37 kills and just 15 errors in the match. Wells built a 10-2 lead in the first set, a 14-2 lead in the second set, and a 12-5 lead in the third set. Those fast starts helped Wells to another sweep in NEAC play.

Amanda Springer led Wells with 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. She also had two block assists.

Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had a team-high 13 digs and three service aces. Lakshmi Martin had one solo block and two block assists.

Olyvia Brazier added eight kills and Rachel Anderson had six kills.

Wells 3, Medaille 1

Set scores were 25-19, 25-16, 25-27, 25-13. Wells hit .227 as a team and three players hit double-figures in kills as Jackie Allen had 15 kills, Rachel Anderson added 14, and Olyvia Brazier had 11. Eliza Schwab set 36 assists in the match.

Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 22 digs and Brazier had 12 digs. Amanda Springer and Lakshmi Martin each had one solo block and two block assists.

Wells served 13 aces in the match with three from Brazier and two each from Allen, Schwab, Leite-Ah Yo, Cheyenne Nowalk, and Jordan Stoops.
