Women's Volleyball Splits Against NEAC South Opponents

The Wells College women's volleyball team had an exciting five-set win at Lancaster Bible College and dropped a three-set match against Penn State Berks on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Express took on the top-two teams in the North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division. Wells is 14-10 overall and 6-1 in the NEAC. Wells remains in first place in the NEAC North Division with a perfect 5-0 record against division opponents.

Penn State Berks leads the South Division with a 4-0 divisional record, 6-1 NEAC record, and 10-9 overall record. Lancaster Bible College (11-13 overall, 6-2 NEAC) is tied for second in the South with Gallaudet.

The Express returns to action at home Tuesday, Oct. 17 against SUNY Cortland at 6 p.m.

Penn State Berks 3, Wells 0

Set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 for the Nittany Lions in the opening match of the day for Wells. Rachel Anderson had 11 kills and Jackie Allen had eight kills. Wells served seven aces, including two each from Jackie Allen and Cheyenne Nowalk. Olyvia Brazier had 14 digs, Allen had 13, and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 11. Lakshmi Martin had one solo block and two block assists. Eliza Schwab had 26 assists.

Wells 3, Lancaster Bible College 2

Wells pulled out a five-set win by taking the second, third, and fifth sets. Set scores were 24-26, 25-16, 25-21, 27-29, 15-10.

Lancaster Bible pushed the match to a fifth set with a back-and-forth fourth set that went deep into extra points. Wells started quickly in the fifth by winning the first five points, but LBC answered back to work its way to an 8-7 lead. Wells then closed out the fifth by taking eight of the next 10 points.

Eliza Schwab had 52 assists, a single-match school record.

Five players had double-figures in digs led by Olyvia Brazier with 24 and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo with 18. Eliza Schwab had 13, Jordan Stoops had 12, and Jackie Allen had 10.

Rachel Anderson had 16 kills and a .190 hitting percentage. Leite-Ah Yo had 14 kills and hit .167. Jackie Allen had 12 kills and a .174 hitting percentage. Jordan Stoops served two aces. Lakshmi Martin, Anderson, and Leite-Ah Yo each had one solo block.
