Women's Volleyball Falls In NEAC Semifinals

The Wells College women's volleyball team concluded its 2017 season with a four-set defeat to Morrisville State College on Saturday, Nov. 4 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference playoff semifinal match at Reading, Pa. Morrisville State won by set scores of 25-18, 26-28, 25-23, 25-21.

Freshman Rachel Anderson led Wells with 17 kills. Earlier this week she earned All-NEAC First Team and NEAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Anderson hit .342 in the match with just four errors. She added two digs, one solo block, and four block assists.

Jackie Allen had 12 kills with a .212 hitting percentage. Over the match, Morrisville hit .262 and Wells hit .169. Gabby Sawyer and Amanda Springer each had four block assists. Olyvia Brazier led Wells with 15 digs and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo added 14 digs.

Eliza Schwab had 31 assists.

Wells finished the season with a 19-13 record. It is the second year in a row that Wells has won 19 games. With a quarterfinal victory over SUNY Poly, Wells won a postseason game for the second straight season.

Morrisville advanced to the NEAC Championship match tomorrow against Gallaudet University. In the first NEAC semifinal, Gallaudet defeated host Penn State Berks 3-1.
