Women's Volleyball Falls In Two Matches

The Wells College women's volleyball team lost to Keene State and Fredonia State on Saturday, Sept. 1 during the second day of play at the Red Dragon Classic hosted by SUNY Cortland.

Wells finished its opening weekend with a 1-3 record. The Express will be back on the court Sept. 7-8 at the University of Rochester Invitational where Wells will face Nazareth, Utica, and St. John Fisher.

KEENE STATE 3, WELLS 0

Set scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 in favor of Keene State. Rachel Anderson had nine kills to led the way for Wells and Jackie Allen had seven. Amanda Springer had one solo block and three block assists, and added two kills.

Four different Express players each served an ace. Lorissa Parks had 13 assists and Jordan Stoops had nine assists. Allen led Wells with eight digs, and Jazzmyne Williams and Nanako Otsuka had seven digs each.

FREDONIA 3, WELLS 1

Fredonia State won in four sets, by scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-17, 25-12. Jazzmyne Williams had 10 kills for the Express. Lorissa Parks led Wells with 19 assists. Rachel Anderson had nine kills and Jackie Allen had seven. Allen served two aces and had 11 digs. Gabby Rivera led Wells with 15 digs.
