Women's Volleyball Splits At Ramapo

The Wells College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches Saturday, Oct. 13 in a tri-match hosted by Ramapo College at Mahwah, N.J. Ramapo defeated Wells in three sets in the opening match, but Wells bounced back for a three-set win over The Sage Colleges in the second match of the day.

Wells is 12-10 overall this season and will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 16 at SUNY Cortland at 7 p.m.

RAMAPO 3, WELLS 0

Set scores were 29-27, 25-13, 25-23 in favor of the Roadrunners. The first set went to extra points and was tied 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 and Wells had four set points that were fended off. Ramapo cruised in the second set and pulled out the third set by two.

Rachel Anderson had 11 kills and a .450 hitting percentage for Wells. Jazzmyne Willliams had eight kills and Jackie Allen had seven. Jordan Stoops led Wells with 18 assists and served two aces. Williams, Allen, and Lorissa Parks all had 12 digs. Amanda Springer had a solo block and Allen and Maritza Scharoun each had two block assists.

WELLS 3, SAGE 0

The Express won by set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-23.

Wells hit .282 in the first set and .278 in the second set. In those sets Wells had 28 total kills and only seven hitting errors. For the match, Wells hit .209. The Express won six of the final eight points in the third set to take a two-point win.

Jackie Allen had 11 kills, Jazzmyne Williams had nine, and Amanda Springer and Rachel Anderson had eight kills each. Lorissa Parks and Jordan Stoops each had 17 assists. Gabby Rivera had a career-best 24 digs while Williams added 12 and Stoops had 11. Maritza Scharoun had two block assists.
