Two More NEAC Wins For Women's Volleyball

The Wells College women's volleyball team continued its run of strong play by sweeping two North Eastern Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. In the NEAC crossover event, Wells defeated both Penn State Berks and Penn College in straight sets.

Wells is 15-10 overall and 8-2 in the NEAC this season. The Express hosts a non-league match Wednesday at home against Oswego State at 7 p.m.

WELLS 3, PENN STATE BERKS 0

The Express started the afternoon by taking the match by set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-18. The first set was tied 14-14 before Wells seized control and ran out to the victory.

Wells hit .297 for the match. Rachel Anderson led the Express with 11 kills. Jackie Allen served five aces, added six digs and four kills. Jordan Stoops led the way with 24 assists. Maritza Scharoun had two solo blocks, two block assists and three kills. Jazzmyne Williams had nine kills.

WELLS 3, PENN COLLEGE 0

Set scores were 25-11, 25-16, 25-14 for the Express.

Gabby Rivera had 13 digs to lead the defensive effort. She also served up five aces.

Wells had five solo blocks including two from Scharoun. Seven players had three or more kills for Wells in a balanced hitting attack. Wells hit .342 in the match with 33 kills and six errors.

Stoops had 18 assists and Lorissa Parks had eight.
