Volleyball Team Takes Three Games in Pittsford

The Wells College women's volleyball team dropped three matches in Pittsford over the weekend. The team opened with a 3-1 loss to host St. John Fisher on Sept. 20, and then dropped a pair the following day to Northern Vermont-Johnson (3-2) and D'Youville (3-0).

In the match against Northern Vermont-Johnson, the Express fell 0-2 (25-21, 25-19) before tying the match at 2-2 (26-24, 25-22) and then falling in a tough 15-13 fifth set. Leading the team were Jackie Allen (25 kills), Jordan Stoops (27 assists) and Gabby Rivera (20 digs).

Wells opened the weekend with a 25-23 win against St. John Fisher, but dropped the next three (25-17, 25-21, 25-19). The trio of Allen, Stoops and Rivera led again with 12 kills, 15 assists and 21 digs, respectively.

The Express finished the weekend with the loss to D'Youville by 25-18, 28-26 and 25-22 set scores. Allen led the team in both kills and digs with 12 and 16, respectively, while Stoops was the top assister with 17.

Wells will look to remain undefeated in conference play when it hosts Morrisville on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the team's next match.
