MEN FINISH THIRD AT SUNYIT INVITATIONAL/WILKINSON LEADS WOMEN

Utica, NY – The Wells College men's cross country team hit the ground running Saturday finishing an impressive third place out of eight teams. Hobart took first with 51 points, SUNY IT 2nd with 85 and Wells totaled 107 points for the day.  The men were 23 points ahead of SUNY Canton in 4th.

The men were led by freshman Brayden Shumski's 4th place finish.  In his first collegiate race, Shumski crossed the line with a time of 21:44.5 over the 6k course.  Brandon Johnston placed an impressive 9th place with a time of 22:45.5.  Junior Sam Share raced in at 19th (23:42.7).  junior Van Buscko (26:18.6) and freshman Brian Corcoran (26:20.1) raced in together placing 42nd and 43rd while Evando Nascimento was close behind in 47th with a time of 26:55.0.

The women were led by senior Kayleen Wilkinson who finished in 27th with a time of 26:01.2 over the 5k course.  Sarah Brenner came in 40th (27:32.5) followed by freshman Sarah Deschenes in 55th (31:52.7).  Beth Cereo (35:33.5) and Beth Raymond (43:05.1) completed our top five for the day and allowed the ladies to place in the team scoring for the first invite of the season.

The Express will travel to SUNY Oswego next weekend where Freshmen Brittany Dennee and Tim Lambert will be added to the Wells racing line-up.
