MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY FINISH 7TH AND 9TH AT ROBERTS WESLEYAN

(Aurora, N.Y.)─  The Wells College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon in Rochester. The men's team placed 7th with 206 points, while the women's team placed 9th with 277 points.   

The men's team competed in an 8-kilometer race against 94 runners from ten other institutions.  The University of Rochester took the top overall spot with 17 points. Yuji Wakimoto of Rochester took home the top overall individual spot with a time of 26:32.28. Brayden Shumski led the Wells Express finishing 42nd with a time of 28:53.61. Tony Petri placed 64th with a time of 33:12.21. Van Bucsko and Brandon Johnston finished 69th and 70th with times of 33:46.14 and 34:04.91 respectively. Chris Mahar placed 73rd with a time of 36:14.97. Tim Lambert finished 80th with a time of 37:33.67 and Jeremiah Miller rounded out the group finishing 86th with a time of 40:57.65.   

The women's team competed in a 6-kilometer race against 106 runners from 11 different institutions. The University of Buffalo placed first with 44 points, while Cherie Jackson of Mercyhurst College took home the top individual spot with a time of 18:39.03. Stephanie Santamaria paced the Wells Express finishing 56th with a time of 22:35.05. Brienne Goodson placed 76th with a  time of 23:44.65. Brittany Dennee finished 83rd with a time of 24:36.00. Sarah Brenner finished 89th with a  time of 25:24.12, while Tara Wild placed 98th with a time of 28:51.15.   

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday as they travel to Cazenovia to compete in the 2nd Annual Cazenovia College Homecoming Cross Country Invitational set to begin at 11:00 am.
