SHUMSKI TAKES SECOND, WOMEN FINISH 7TH AT HOBART INVITATIONAL

(Aurora, N.Y.)─  The Wells College men's cross country team placed 4th and the women's team placed seventh at the Hobart College Invitational held Saturday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y. Brayden Shumski led the men's team with a second place finish (29:46), while Stephanie Santamaria paced the women's team with a 13th place finish (26:51).  

The men's team ran an 8-kilometer race and competed against a field of 60 runners with Hobart College taking the top overall spot with 51 points, while Richard Terpenning of Bryant & Stratton College took home the individual championship with a time of 29:46. Shumski's second place finish was his highest this running season. Rounding out the men's finishers were Brandon Johnston who placed 20th with a time of 32:22. Sam Share placed 23rd with a time of 32:55. Tony Petri took 27th with a time of 34:07. Van Bucsko finished 32nd with a time of 34:38. Kyle Brownell and Chris Mahar finished 34th and 36th respectively with a time of 34:39. Tim Lambert finished 47th with a time 36:55, while Jeremiah Miller finished 54th with a time of 38:57.  

The women's team ran a 6-kilometer race and competed against a field of 58 runners with William Smith taking home the top overall spot with 34 points, while Chelsea Socha of Keuka College took the individual championship with a time of 24:09. Rounding out the women's finishers were Brienne Goodson with a time of 28:40. Brittany Dennee placed 38th with a time of 30:09. Sarah Brenner finished 46th with a time of 31:44. Tara Wild placed 56th with a time of 39:59, while Elizabeth Raymond finished 58th with a time of 51:45.  

Both teams will compete next on Wednesday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m. in a head-to-head match-up against Keuka College at Wells. This will be the first home meet hosted by Wells College in the history of both the men's and women's cross country team.
