MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 11TH AT CCOC

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's cross country team finished 11th while the women's team did not place at the Cross Country Only Championship held at William Smith College on Saturday in Geneva.. Brayden Shumski paced the men's team finishing 26th with a time of 29:38. Brittany Denne led the women's team finishing 67th with a time of 25:04.
 
The men's team competed in 8-kilometer race against 15 schools in a field of 146 runners. Clarkson took the top spot with a team score of 21, while Clarkson runner Alex Benway earned the individual top spot with a time of 26:51. Rounding out the men's finishers for Wells were Sam Share, who finished 64th with a time of 32:20. Tony Petri placed 68th with a time of 32:28. Kyle Brownell finished 69th with a time of 32:36. Van Bucsko finished 101st with a time of 34:40 and Tim Lambert placed 109th with a time of 35:47.
 
The women's team competed in 5-kilometer race against eleven schools in a field of 104 runners. William Smith College earned first place with a team score of 77. Anya Bogdonets of D'Youville College had the top individual performance finishing 1st with a time of 19:09. Rounding out the women's team finishers was Sarah Brenner who finished 75th with a time of 26:34. Tara Wild placed 87th with a time of 29:12 and Beth Raymond finished 103rd with a time of 40:24.


The men's and women's cross country will next compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship next Saturday.
