MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COMPETE AT NAZARETH INVITATIONAL

(Rochester, N.Y.) ─ The Wells College men's and women's cross country team finished 6th and 8th respectively at the Nazareth College Invitational held Saturday afternoon in Rochester. Brayden Shumski paced the men's team finishing 11th with a time of 22:39.93. Brienne Goodson led the women's team finishing 34th with a time of 18:36.28.
 
The men's team competed in 6-kilometer race against eight schools in a field of 54 runners. Alfred University took the top spot with a team score of 34. Nazareth College runner Matt Morales earned the individual top spot with a time of 21:23.33. Rounding out the men's finishers for Wells were Sam Share, who finished 24th with a time of 24:43.09. Tony Petri placed 28th with a time of 25:20.10. Van Bucsko finished 39th with a time of 27:23.32 and Tim Lambert finished 41st with a time of 28:05.09.
 
The women's team competed in 4-kilometer race against eight schools in a field of 81 runners. Nazareth earned first place with a team score of 20. Chelsea Socha of Keuka had the top individual performance finishing 1st with a time of 15:35. Rounding out the women's team finishers was Brittany Denne, who finished 50th with a time of 19:59.23. Sarah Brenner finished 61st with a time of 21:35.70. Sarah Deschenes placed 68th with a time of 22:19.07 and Beth Raymond finished 78th with a time of 33:37.90.
 
The men's and women's cross country will compete next in the Cross Country Only Championship hosted by William Smith College on Saturday, October 16th at 11:00 am in Geneva.
