Express Place Seventh AT SUNY Oswego Invitational

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) finished within the top 20 as an individual as the Wells College women's cross country team placed seven overall in the nine team field Saturday afternoon at the SUNY Oswego Invitational. As a team, the Express accumulated 199 points to place seventh. The Bombers of Ithaca College placed first overall as a squad, accumulating 32 points.

Middlebrook completed the 5K course in just over 20 minutes (20:04.2), placing 16th overall as an individual and leading her team in mile pace (6:28). Freshman Jessica Bye (Jordan, N.Y.) placed 82nd as an individual, posting a time of 23:14.5 for the highest finish of her career. Classmate Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) finished just behind Bye, posting a time of 23:31.1 to place 87th overall. Sophomore Lindsey Guzewicz (Auburn, N.Y.) ran a 7:43 mile pace to place 91st overall in the field, turning in a time of 23:57.7.

Sophomores Anastasia Benson (Rockford, Ill.) and Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) placed 94th and 97th, respectively, to finish within the top 100 racers on the afternoon. Benson completed the course in 24:13.5 while Frisenda finished just behind with a time of 24:23.6. Senior Brienne Goodson (Deansboro, N.Y.) and freshman Marie Valliere (Chicopee, N.Y.) posted times of 24:45.6 and 27:31.2, respectively. Valliere appeared in her first collegiate competition this afternoon.
