Women’s Cross Country Earns Sixth At SUNY Cortland Invitational

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) led the Express for the fourth-straight week as the Wells College women's cross country team posted a sixth place finish (out of eight competing squads) at the SUNY Cortland XC Jack Daniels Shoot-Out Saturday afternoon. With 30 points, Ithaca College placed first as a team in the 4K race.

Middlebrook posted a time of 15:48 to lead all Express runners on the afternoon, placing 26th overall amongst the field of 132 runners. Freshman Liza Gerwig (Painted Post, N.Y.), competing in her first collegiate 4K race, placed second overall on the Express by posting a time of 17:17.30 to place 75th. Freshman Jessica Bye (Jordan, N.Y.), freshman Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) and sophomore Lindsey Guzewicz (Auburn, N.Y.) placed 89th, 90th and 91st, respectively. Bye finished with a time of 18:07.30, Lamanna completed the course with a time of 18:08.10 and Guzewicz rounded out the threesome with a time of 18:09.30.

Freshman Davina Jones (Gouverneur, N.Y.) placed 95th overall with a time of 18:17.90. Senior Brienne Goodson (Deansboro, N.Y.) finished in 100th place, finishing her trial with a time of 18:39.50. Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) concluded her afternoon five places behind Goodson with a time of 18:49.40. Marie Valliere (Chicopee, Mass.) and Sarah Deschenes (Keene, N.H.) rounded out the competitors for the Express, posting times of 20:24.80 and 22:57.40, respectively.
