Women’s XC Collects Third Place At Wells College Invitational

AURORA, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) finished second overall on the morning as an individual as the Wells College women's cross country squad placed third overall in the Wells College Invitational held Saturday on the campus of Wells College. William Smith College posted a combined team mark of 24 points, capturing first place in the 5K competition.

Middlebrook's time of 20:58.70 ranked her second overall, trailing race leader Emily D'Addario of William Smith by almost a full minute. Freshman Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) finished a season-best second on the Express roster, turning in a time of 23:52.77 to rank 17th overall in the field. Freshman Jessica Bye (Jordan, N.Y.) finished 19th with a time of 24:19.60 while senior Brienne Goodson (Deansboro, N.Y.) rounded out the top-20 runners, posting a time of 24:21.61.

Freshmen Liza Gerwig (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Davina Jones (Gouverneur, N.Y.) placed 22nd and 23rd, respectively, with times of 21:41.87 and 24:48.88. Sophomores Anastasia Benson (Rockford, Ill.) and Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) also finished back-to-back with times of 24:49.49 and 25:01.66 to round out the field for the Express.

The Express return to action Saturday, Oct. 27 as they compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships held by host Penn State Abington in Abington, Pa.
