Middlebrook Earns Third At SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational

Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) placed third amongst the
entire field as both the men's and women's cross country teams at
Wells College competed in the seventh-annual SUNYIT Wildcat
Invitational on Saturday. The women's team placed sixth out of 12
teams while the men's team competed individually.
With a time of 20:50, Middlebrook trailed only two runners from
Utica College and ran at a 6:43 pace. Since joining the squad as a
freshman in 2011, Middlebrook has led the Express in all 17 of her

Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) posted a strong time in her
first collegiate meet, running at a 7:05 pace to finish in 21:58 on
the 5K course, good enough for 21st place overall.
Sophomore Katie
Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) turned in a time of
22:20 while junior Anastasia
Benson (Rockford, Ill.) was fourth on the Express with
a time of 23:54. Freshmen Jenn
VanWormer (Phoenix, N.Y.) and Bailey
Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) each stayed within the top-100
runners, posting times of 26:35 and 26:47, respectively, to finish
93rd and 97th.
Junior Veronica
Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) posted a time of 28:55,
freshman Macy
Smolsky (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) finished with a time
of 32:08 and junior Paige
Fralick completed the course in 34:34. Oswego State
College placed first amongst the field, with Utica and William
Smith College rounding out the top three teams.
Four male runners competed for Wells in the 6K event, including Paul Hernon (New Hartford, N.Y.),
Ky'aire Reed, Andrew Judson (Court Gambrillis, Md.)
and Andrew Zellers. Hernon led the Wells
representatives, completing the course in 25:07 to finish 88th. In
his first collegiate race, Reed notched a time of 26:59 while
Judson, a junior, finished in 27:55. Zellers, also participating
within his first collegiate meet, finished with a time of
29:37.
Wells returns to action Saturday, Sept. 7 as they participate in
the Pat Peterson Invitational, hosted by Oswego State College
– the men kick off at 11:00 a.m. from Hidden Fields while the
