Middlebrook Cracks Top 20 At Oswego St. XC Invitational
OSWEGO, N.Y.
– For the 18th-straight race, junior Emily
Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) led all Express runners as
the Wells College women's cross country team placed eighth out of
12 teams competing at the Oswego State Invitational at Hidden
Fields Saturday morning.
Middlebrook placed 17th out of 162 runners in the meet, running at
a 6:22 mile pace with a time of 19:46.5, the fifth-best time of her
career. Placing second and finishing in 33rd place is Deaven
Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) who turned in a time of
20:17.8, a 6:32 mile pace. Theriault finished ninth amongst all
competing freshmen in the meet.
Sophomore Katie
Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) placed third for Wells,
posting a time of 21:36.4 to rank 83rd amongst the field. Junior
Anastasia
Benson (Rockford, Ill.) was 109th against the field,
running at a 7:24 pace on the 5K course. Freshman Jenn
VanWormer (Phoenix, N.Y.) recorded a time of 24:19.0
while freshman Bailey
Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) was 132nd with a time of
25:02.5.
Rounding out the field for the Express was junior Veronica
Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) and freshman Macy
Smolsky (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) – the runners
notched times of 26:21.7 and 27:31.8, respectively.
On the men's side, four runners raced for the Express. Paul Hernon (New Hartford,
N.Y.) led all Wells runners with a time of 30:06.4 across the 8K
course, a personal best time. Junior Andrew Judson (Court
Gambrillis, Md.) ran at a 7:20 mile pace while classmates
Andrew Zellers and Ky'aire Reed
were 156th and 157th, respectively, with times of 37:15.1 and
37:23.2.
Wells returns to action Saturday, Sept. 14 as they participate in
the Rochester (N.Y.) Yellow Jacket Invitational, held at Genesee
Valley Park in the City of Rochester. The women begin at 11:00 a.m.
