Theriault Sets Career-Best Time At Hamilton XC Invitational

CLINTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) led all members of the Wells College women's cross country team at the 2014 Hamilton College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. As a team, Wells racked up 397 points to place 15th out of 16 teams on the 5K course.

Theriault's time of 19:17.3 was not only a personal best, but it was also the second-fastest time in team history. Emily Middlebrook '14 holds the all-time top-5K time of 19:08, set at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Sept. 29, 2012. Theriault beat the previous second place record of 19:28.95 (Middlebrook, 10/29/11) by more than 10 full seconds.

With her personal-best time, Theriault placed 28th amongst the field of 161 entrants. Junior Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) finished second on the team, posting a time of 21:57 to place 121st amongst the field. Senior Anastasia Benson's (Rockford, Ill.) time of 22:36.9 ranked her 133rd while freshman Audrey Woolever (Owego, N.Y.) completed the course in 24:00.8 to finish 143rd.

Senior Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) turned in a time of 24:46.4 while freshman Amanda Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in 25:07.6. Senior Paige Fralick (Mexico, N.Y.) and freshman Afton Noha (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) rounded out the field of Wells runners with times of 28:31.3 and 31:50, respectively.

The Express return to action Saturday, Oct. 18 as they participate at the Cross Country Only Championships at 11 a.m. in Geneva, N.Y. at Seneca Lake State Park.
