Women's Cross Country Places 35th At NCAA's

ROCHESTER, N.Y. The Wells College women's cross country team finished 35th against the 40-team field at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Genesee Valley Park. The Express, fielding their second-ever team at the NCAA Regional level, competed on the 6K course in the University of Rochester-hosted event.

The Express finished ahead of Cazenovia College in Saturday's race – the Wildcats placed second overall in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships but fell to 40th place at the NCAA Division III Regional.

Sophomore Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) led the Express at the meet, placing 143rd amongst the field with a time of 24:37.7 to set a personal-best 6K time. Senior Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) wraps up her Wells career with a 230th place finish after completing the course in 27:34.1.

Senior Lindsey Guzewicz (Auburn, N.Y.) turned in a time of 27:47.7, placing only six places behind Lamanna. Seniors Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) and Paige Fralick (Mexico, N.Y.) rounded out the field for the Express, finishing with times of 29:46.2 and 33:36.9, respectively.

St. Lawrence University claimed first place in both the men's and women's races while SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Oneonta finished second and third in the women's race, respectively. Amy Regan from the Stevens Institute of Technology placed first amongst the field, posting a time of 21:05.8.
