GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Wells College women's cross country team was voted to finish sixth out of 13 teams in the first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll, the conference announced Friday afternoon. The final rankings were determined following a poll of the league's head coaches.

SUNY Cobleskill, the reigning conference champions, received 8-of-13 first-place votes en route to capturing 129 total points. Penn St.-Abington placed second with 125 total points while Cazenovia College picked up two first-place votes while earning 113 points. Keuka College earned fourth place while Wells and Penn St.-Berks finished sixth and seventh, respectively – all three schools received a single first-place vote.

Junior Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) returns to the team having placed fourth overall among the field of 88 runners at last year's NEAC Cross Country Championship, posting 132 points to narrowly miss capturing fourth place by 13 total points. She picked up First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season after placing fifth at the 2013 league championship.

Despite losing five competing seniors to graduation, the Express return several freshmen as they look to place fifth or better at the NEAC Championship for the fifth-straight season in 2015. Head Coach Dr. Jack Daniels enters his third season working with the Express runners and will look to field a team at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships for the third consecutive season.

Wells opens their season Saturday, Sept. 5 as they will compete at the Le Moyne Alumni Short Course Invitational at 1:30 p.m. on the 4K course.
