Fastiggi Nets Top-10 Finish at Cazenovia Invitational

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Amanda Fastiggi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) picked up a ninth-place overall finish for the Wells College women's cross country team as the Express placed seventh out of 10 teams at the Cazenovia Homecoming Invitational, held at Jamesville Beach State Park on Saturday.

With a time of 24:22, Fastiggi captured ninth place out of 91 total competitors on the wet 6K course. She becomes only the fifth-ever runner in team history to earn a top-10 finish at a meet with three-plus teams competing, following Kirsten Musciano, Emily Middlebrook '14, Lindsey Guzewicz '15 and current teammate Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.).

Theriault, making her season debut, placed 49th overall with a time of 28:50 while junior Bailey Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) was 51st, running at a 7:52/mile pace to complete the course in 29:19. Sophomore Amanda Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y.) and sophomore Shiori Hirayama (Hiroshima, Japan) placed 56th and 57th, respectively, with times of 29:51 and 29:54 to round out the scoring participants.

Freshman Rosalety Galea (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a time of 34:44 while sophomore Katelyn Costello (Nunda, N.Y.) turned in a time of 37:26. Senior Brittany Paul (Rochester, N.Y.) rounded out the participants from Wells, crossing the finish line in 40:36.

The Express return to action Saturday, Oct. 10 as they participate at the Hamilton College Invitational at 11 a.m.
