AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships this Saturday, Oct. 31. The men's 8K race will begin at 11 a.m. while the women's 6K race will commence at high noon at Jamesville Beach State Park in Jamesville, N.Y.

The top five finishers for each team will count towards their team's total score, with the best overall team score from each race then taking home the championship. The first-place finisher of each race will be named the conference's Runner of the Year, while the top 21 runners from each race will be named to the NEAC All-Conference teams.

The Express will compete against the host Cazenovia College alongside Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Penn College, Penn St.-Abington, Penn St.-Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly, Morrisville State College and Wilson College.

Last season, the men's cross country team finished 10th out of 11 programs at the NEAC Championships. Paul Hernon '15 and then-junior Stephen Armstrong (Horseheads, N.Y.) finished 35th and 36th, respectively, with times of 31:05.4 and 31:05.5 to lead the Express runners in the event.

On the women's side in 2014, then-sophomore Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) placed fourth overall among the field of 88 runners as the Express posted a sixth place finish out of 11 teams. For her efforts, Theriault earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. Three separate runners earned NEAC All-Conference merits in 2013 for Wells.
