Women's Cross Country Places 33rd At NCAA Regionals

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. – The Wells College women's cross country team placed 33rd out of 37 competing teams at the 2015 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Letchworth State Park. The Express had seven runners compete in the regional meet against colleges and universities from around the region.

Freshman Amanda Fastiggi (Cicero, N.Y.) led all Wells runners in the race, posting a time of 24:47.6 which stands as the fifth-fastest time at an NCAA regional in team history. Her 134th place finish is also the fourth-best in the team's history – Emily Middlebrook '14 had team-leading finishes of 68th, 106th and 112nd place in 2012, 2013 and 2011, respectively.

Junior Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) finished in 231rd place for the Express with a time of 29:05.9. Sophomore Shiori Hirayama (Hiroshima, Japan) was third out of the Wells competitors, crossing the line in 29:51.3. Junior Bailey Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) turned in a time of 30:56.8, placing 254th for the Express, while freshman Rosalety Galea (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the scorers for Wells (36:34.2).

Freshman Elena Bushy (Wilmington, N.Y.) recorded a time of 37:26.8 while sophomore Katelyn Costello (Nunda, N.Y.) posted a time of 40:46.2.
