Bio

Wells College hired Zach VanNostrand, MS, ATC as Head Athletic Trainer for the intercollegiate athletics department. VanNostrand began his appointment Aug. 1, 2017.

VanNostrand oversees the department’s goals to administer a positive, healthy experience for student-athletes in preparation, competition, and recovery. The sports medicine staff provides every student-athlete with the most comprehensive and highest quality health care available in a professional, efficient, and compassionate manner.

VanNostrand most recently worked as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Cornell University where he led clinical supervision of sprint football and men’s lacrosse and event coverage for multiple sports programs. He traveled with the Big Red men’s basketball team during an August 2016 training trip to Spain. During summer months, VanNostrand worked as athletic trainer for numerous youth and prospect summer camps at Cornell.

He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in athletic training and a master of science in exercise science and sports psychology from Ithaca College. During his time at Ithaca College he worked in the athletic training department’s clinic and with the Bombers’ women’s soccer, football, swimming & diving, and track & field programs.

During his collegiate years, VanNostrand worked as a student athletic trainer at Ithaca College, Cornell University, and the Cayuga Medical Center.

VanNostrand has conducted professional research and presented on topics including Specific Attentional and Focus Cues Impacting Basketball Shooting and Performance Training, Spondylolysis in a Collegiate Division I Wrestler, and Investigating Level of Play and GPA in College-Aged Students.

He is certified by the National Athletic Training Association and Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, is Red Cross CPR/AED certified, and has a New York State ATC License.
