Postseason: Women's Volleyball, Field Hockey, Men's Soccer

Three Wells College fall sports teams will be in postseason action this weekend seeking conference championships and automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Championships.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute is the host site for the 2016 NEAC Women's Volleyball Championship, which will be conducted Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Three first-round matches take place Friday including Wells against Penn State-Berks at approximately 7:30 p.m.

If Wells advances, the Express will face tournament host SUNY Poly at noon on Saturday, with the second semifinal match to follow. Sunday's championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Beginning with the 2016 season, the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has partnered with the NEAC in field hockey, where NEAC members are considered associate members of the NAC. Members from each conference will be divided into an East (NAC) and West (NEAC) Division, with each division holding a championship and the two divisional champions then facing off to determine the conference champion.

The Wells College field hockey team won the NEAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a 6-1 victory over Wilson College. The cross-divisional NAC Championship is Saturday, Nov. 5 against Maine-Farmington at Castleton University in Castleton, Vt. The winner of the match will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

The Wells College men's soccer team advanced to the semifinal round of the NEAC playoffs with a 2-0 win over Penn State-Berks in a first-round match on Tuesday in Berks, Pa. The Express faces tournament host and first-place Morrisville State College on Saturday afternoon in a match that starts no earlier than 4 p.m. at Drake Field on the Morrisville campus in Morrisville, N.Y. Admission to the event is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

The winner of the Wells against Morrisville match advances to the NEAC Championship at 3 p.m. Sunday at Morrisville. The other semifinal match is between Penn State-Abington and Keuka College.
